THE YORKSHIRE UNION OF GOLF CLUBS

INTER-CLUB FOURSOME TOURNAMENT 2010

TOURNAMENT RULES

(TO BE RETAINED BY CLUBS)

To be played under the following conditions:

  1. It will be obligatory for all competitors in the Tournament to play with a ball that is named on the current R&A List of Conforming Golf Balls.

  2. The Competition is open to all Clubs affiliated to the Union and will be played as a knock-out tournament by Foursome matches, each round to be played over 18 holes EXCEPT THE FINAL WHICH IS OVER 36 HOLES.

  3. Entrance Fee £20. Each Club may enter one team only. A Club need not be represented by the same player in each round, but a player is not entitled to represent more than one Club in the tournament in one year. All players must conform with Regulations 26 & 27.

  4. The Greens for the matches, the Draw & Dates for the Rounds will be fixed by the Executive Committee. All couples will play from SCRATCH on the green allotted. In the event of a tie play shall continue until either side shall gain a hole. If the Club appointed as a venue for a match is unable to accept the date and time agreed by the contestants, then, and only then, by mutual agreement of the two sides the green allotted may be varied providing permission is previously obtained for the change of venue from the SECRETARY OF THE CLUB CONCERNED. All couples must arrange with Club Secretaries at least three days before the match is played on the original green or at the venue changed by mutual agreement as above. The Final must be played as arranged by the Executive Committee. All matches MUST be played by the specified dates and the last day for the playing of a round shall be the COMPULSORY DAY, and the latest time for starting shall be 1 p.m. If the representatives of only one Club are present at that time the match shall be awarded to them. If the representatives of both Clubs are absent they shall both be scratched.

  5. Notice of results, together with the names of the players and the venue shall be sent to the Secretary by the wining team to reach him within two days of the period allowed for the round. If no result is received within that time, both teams will be retired.

  6. The Yorkshire Foursomes Bowl will be held for one year by the winning Club and mementos will be provided for the Clubs taking part in the Final.

  7. Copies of the draw will be sent to the competing Clubs for display on their notice boards. The full result of each round will be sent to the Press and also to those Clubs which remain in the Tournament to enable draw sheets to be kept up to date.

  8. A Competitor shall not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance. In this respect the attention of competitors is drawn to the proscribed list of drugs issued by the Sports Council, a copy of which is available on request. Any Competitor infringing this decision, or if asked to do so, refusing to take a test, may be disqualified.

  9. All disputes must be referred to the Secretary, but the decision of the Championship Committee shall be final.

  10. The Executive Committee reserves the right to make a decision in equity when it is impossible to complete a match in accordance with the Rules of Golf

  11. The decision of the Executive Committee as to the acceptance or refusal of any entry shall be final.

  12. Distance-Measuring Devices: In all Yorkshire County Championships, Matches and Meetings a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is also designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.

By order of the Executive Committee
