YORKSHIRE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The winner of the 2010 Amateur Championship is Adam Frontal from the Cookridge Golf Club with a 3 and 2 win over Nathan Rodgers from the Tankersley Park Golf Club. The morning round of the 36 hole Championship favoured Nathan with a 1 hole advantage at lunch, he took an early lead with a birdie at the second hole and increased it to two holes at the twelfth when Adam hit a single small tree from 30 yards with his second shot. Adam reduced the deficit at the 14th with a par and sank a long put on the eighteenth for a four to match Nathan's tap in four. In the afternoon, missed puts by Nathan at holes 2 and 4 set the scene for the rest of his round and contributed to Adam eventually taking the lead for the first time in the match at the twelfth hole. He increased it to two at the 14th but a wayward drive at the 15th almost gave a hole back, but once again the putting gremlins bit and Nathan could only three put for a half. Adam sealed the win on the sixteenth with an easy par after Nathan had bunkered his tee shot and failed to make the green with his recovery shot. Adam was presented with the Trophy by the Yorkshire President Mr Jay Whittam of the Howley Hall Golf Club.
